WHY MUST YOU LEARN PROCESS DESIGN?

Decarbonising our energy and industrial sectors requires us to develop, optimise and deploy innovative engineering processes. Chemical process design is a series of steps that process engineers need to follow to develop a process design that meets the desired project specification in a safe, economical, and environmentally friendly manner. Therefore, chemical and process engineers need to understand how to apply the core process design principles to conceptualise and test innovative net-zero technologies.

WHAT IS THE SCOPE OF THIS WORKSHOP?

This workshop will comprise a theoretical introduction to process design. I will explain the key steps of process design and the fundamental laws that you need to design industrial processes confidently. I will then introduce you to DWSIM, an open-source alternative to commercial tools, such as Aspen Plus, Aspen Hysys, Pro/II or ChemCad. We will use DWSIM to go through the key steps of process design, using a real-life process design example based on one of my consultancy projects.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN?

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

- set up a process simulation in DWSIM

- select appropriate property package

- setup the property and simulation environment

- navigate the simulation environment

- create the process flow diagram by using a combination of (material/energy) streams and unit operations

- run the simulation and analyse the results

WHAT DO YOU GET?

If you join my workshop, you’re going to get:

- access to the live group workshop (3 hr + Q&A)

- access to the workshop recording

- access to the workshop materials and simulations

- access to my exclusive Discord community

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

This workshop is designed to help people get started with process design and simulation. It’ll be especially helpful for students, researchers, engineers, academics and teachers in the area of chemical and process engineering. The case study used in this workshop will be especially useful to those willing to contribute to the decarbonisation of the energy sector and the industrial sector.

I'm looking forward to working with you!

Cheers,

Dr Hanak
